ONE MONTH FROM TODAY. September 18, 2014, I’LL BE MOVING BACK TO SAN DIEGO!
After five and a half wonderful years of ministry in Simi Valley, Ventura County, California and beyond, the Lord is leading me back to San Diego. This actually began almost 9 months ago when, on New Years Day, I prayed this simple prayer:
“Lord, I want to see you; I want to hear your voice like never before; I desire to be filled with and led by your Holy Spirit in unprecedented ways; I’m desperate to encounter Heaven and sit with You on Your Throne; I long to enter into a level of intimacy with you and anointing from you so that I might more effectively minister your Grace, Truth, Love, Life and Healing to our world that is so desperately needy.”
I called it my New Years “Revolution,” and it has turned out to be more of a “revolution” than I could have ever anticipated. It’s quite easy to pray such a prayer but a very different thing, much more challenging, to attempt to live that out day by day—to increasingly eliminate distractions, to sharpen our focus on Jesus, to do what is necessary from my/our side—that truly give Father permission, what he needs from me/us, to answer that prayer.
I felt increasingly pulled away from many of the ministries/initiatives I had been involved with to “just” spend time with the Jesus. The Simi Valley Prayer Awakening that I launched in May 2012 died a natural death in September 2013 after a year and a half. The desire and recognition of the need for corporate prayer for our City and World is there but demands on Pastors’ time and conflicting Church schedules made it difficult to organize and continue. I have a deep sense that the Lord will resurrect this in His time.
Chazon & Deep End, the Messianic Church plant & Bible Study I’ve been a key part of for over four years came to an end in May 2014. Though richly blessed, Shawn & Val Moir were never able to achieve the level of financial support & stability to sustain them. Shawn was able to complete his studies for a D Min at Kings Seminary (at age 31, an amazing achievement) and also translated the Book of Ezekiel for the Tree of Life Bible, a Messianic Bible—which has just been released, during his tenure at Chazon. Earlier this year they received an invitation from Baruch HaShem Congregationin Dallas Texas, one of the largest Messianic Congregations in the US, to be Director of Worship & Education, which they accepted. It was a good season and wonderful experience. We’ve all been mutually taught, strengthened and encouraged for the ongoing work of the Kingdom. The vision to plant a Messianic Congregation in SV was an initiative of Church of the Living Christ and, in time, we believe this too will find new life, leadership and expression.
At the end of July I was notified by my apartment complex that my lease was coming due for renewal. The rent has gone from $1150 to over $1400 a month for a 1BR apartment in the 5+ years I’ve lived here. Over the past couple years Rachelle has asked me to consider moving back to San Diego to be closer and more of a “hands on” Opa to Kai who is now six and a half and just started First Grade. These factors together put the decision regarding my future and where to live on the front burner. After much intense prayer and consulting with family and trusted friends, my future pointed increasingly toward San Diego, prompting this move.
The work I do as North American Coordinator of the International Reconciliation Coalition is not “location” specific and can be accomplished from anywhere in the country. Also, I’ve lived in San Diego for a number of years previously and have a wonderful network of friends, churches, organizations and ministries that I’ve worked with over the years.
Last week I told a friend that I felt like I was “in the birth canal!” Actually, I don’t really know what that feels like and can’t remember the first time. LOL Then I realized that it has been almost 9 months since that prayer on January 1st. I have a sense that God is birthing me and the IRCNA into a whole new level of ministry, intimacy, anointing and effectiveness. I recently accepted the invitation to become the Director of Student Development for our “online” International School of Reconciliation Studies, launched back in 2004. The ISOS disciples, trains, mentors, networks and releases students into many areas of Reconciliation Ministry & Initiatives all over the world. More about that in my next letter.
So, like the Israelites in the wilderness, I find myself at the banks of the proverbial Jordan River and the river is at flood stage. I have 30 days to move; I don’t yet have a place to live in San Diego; I need $3500 for rent, deposit, moving expenses, and additional ministry and administrative demands. Like the Israelites at the Jordan, the ONLY way I can get from Here to There is through the Miraculous Power & Provision of God the Father, Son & Holy Spirit!
Can I ask you to:
- Pray for me and this very unexpected & rapid transition and all the needs and challenges it represents.
- Pray for all those I’ve worked with in Simi Valley & Ventura County over the past 5+ years. I convene a Regional Gathering to support John & Julie Dawson 6 times a years so plan to be back here frequently, as the Lord leads and provides.
- Consider making a contribution to assist me at this time.
Yours, In His Shalom,
North American Coordinator

Dear Follower of Jesus,
Wishing you a Blessed & Anointed 2014 in the Name of Yeshua!
Yes, I’m still here! After living out of a suitcase for about 40 days from September 5th to November 10th; after 4 trans-continental flights & 6 international flights (LAX-JFK-Istanbul-Tel Aviv-Istanbul-JFK-LAX, then a few days later, LAX-Philly-Brussels-Philly-LAX); after a 21 day Prayer Journey to Turkey & Israel; after 11 days in Brussels celebrating the 30th Anniversary of YWAM Belgium & reconnecting with former staff and friends, a ministry we began in 1983; after 4 bouts of jet lag; after a 4 day trip to San Diego so see my daughter and grandson, Rachelle & Kai, whom I hadn’t seen for over 6 months; and finally, after a three day trip to Lake Arrowhead for a 10 year Anniversary & Reevaluation of our International Reconciliation Team, I arrived back in Simi Valley on November 10th in time to share about my recent travels and ministry with Church of the Living Christ in Simi Valley, my home church – I was Sr. Pastor there from 1995 – 2000.
Though I was exhilarated and deeply impacted by all these significant ministry opportunities, I was also so physically, mentally and emotionally exhausted that it was difficult to process and appreciate all Father God had done in and through us. Obviously this was a very unusual and demanding schedule, one that might pop up every 10 years. I found this 70 year old guy doesn’t just bounce back and recuperate as I once easily did. LOL I took a few days to “unplug,” focus on rest, prayer, worship and the word.
When I did emerge and begin to put pen to paper, or fingers to keyboard, my old laptop decided not to cooperate. I did CPR on it for a couple of weeks trying to avoid an expense I couldn’t afford but eventually had to buy a new one – which has taken more time to set up than expected. Thank you for putting up with my whining and your patience during my long silence – now you know why.
Having begun with that caveat, I want to thank you SO much for your generous contributions and gracious prayers for me and our Turkey-Israel team. This was one of the most intensely anointed and prophetic teams and ministry trips I have ever participated with. The team was an outstanding mix of very mature people with broadly diverse gifts and ministry experiences – adding to the quality and depth of ministry we were able to accomplish. It’s amazing how quickly people bond and flow together when thrust into such intense contact, time & schedule. We couldn’t have asked for better leadership than that provided by Fred & Susan Rowe, Rosemary Schindler and others. They kept us focused and on target in an environment full of distractions. We eventually began to call ourselves the “Seal Team!” Seal teams have a very specific mission and target and avoid all distractions – something we found increasingly necessary and important for this journey.
After the first couple of days, we took communion together on the bus as we headed into the day’s locations and prayer ministry. Each of us brought 12 small rocks from our home towns and with them built 12 altars of repentance, worship and declaration of God’s purpose at each of the 7 Churches in Turkey – Ephesus, Smirna (Izmir), Pergamum, Thayatira, Sardis, Philadelphia & Laodicea. We also had water from the Gihon Spring in Jerusalem, oil & wine from Israel as well as 12 small sapphire stones – considered the Stone of Destiny & Symbol of Heaven and Joyful Devotion to God. After pouring water, the sapphire would be placed, then the stone of each person – some with scriptures or words written on them. Then oil and wine would be poured over the small altar and, where possible, there would be scripture reading, prayer and worship. It was truly moving. Several times we were in more compromised locations and under the gaze of guards so had to use much discretion. Prayer and worship would then continue on the bus.
We continued to build 5 more altars in Israel: at Elijah’s Cave on Mr. Carmel; at Mt. Precipice in Nazareth; on the Golan Heights overlooking Syria & Jordan; outside the Eastern Gate in Jerusalem and finally at Shiloh where the Tabernacle of Moses was located for 360 years – on the very spot where it is thought the Holy of Holies was located. Afterwards, the many Shofars among us were blown to the North, South, East and West, a truly prophetic moment.
For me, the four highlights of the tour were: 1. Our all day visit and prayer gathering with the Izmir (Smirna), an absolutely gorgeous city much in the style of San Francisco, House of Prayer which owns a former British Consulate building overlooking the Mediterranean Sea. While there we were joined by a number of young Chinese Christians we had met at a lunch stop earlier in the week. When they arrived and we began to worship and pray together, the heavens opened and there was a move of the Holy Spirit that was totally awesome. 2. The next day we flew back to Istanbul and were able to spend about 4 hours with the Istanbul House of Prayer, with much the same results as Izmir. Both HOPs are lead by Korean YWAMers but also have staff from other countries. Their ongoing prayer is having a profound impact not only on Izmir and Istanbul but the whole of Turkey, an important and strategic country bridging both Europe & Asia.
The third highlight came the first day we arrived in Jerusalem. The Back to Jerusalem Chinese were having their first ever conference on the Mount of Olives and we were invited to attend. Again, once the nations began to come together in worship, dance and prayer, the Holy Spirit began to fall like I haven’t seen in over 44 years of ministry. We met Chinese Jews who have already made Aliyah and others preparing to do so.
Fourthly, later that week we were invited to a Prayer & Reconciliation Gathering of Arabs and Jews in Nazareth. We joined Arab & Jewish Christians and 15 different nations in the Ballroom of a large Hotel. Worship teams led in Arabic, Hebrew and English and the atmosphere was electric and festive and dancing was breaking out all over the hall. At one point Rania Sayegh, leader of the HOPE House of Prayer in Nazerath, felt the Lord asking us to “Release the Sound of Awakening” over Nazareth, Israel and the World. People began to pray and their prayers turned into a literal “roar” of prayer, worship, faith and expectancy. I have NEVER experienced anything like this in all my years of Pastoral & Missionary Ministry. Truly God is at work and moving in unprecedented ways in our World.
I believe we are living in the most crucial and critical time in World & Church History. Everywhere we look, evidences of the Return of Yeshua are becoming more obvious. Bible prophecy is being fulfilled in increasing detail and with greater acceleration than I can recall in my almost 71 years. God is calling me and His Church to greater intimacy, focus and singleness of purpose as we “Forget what is behind and strain toward what is ahead, pressing on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus.” Philippians 3:13-14.
I continue to work with Church of the Living Christ, Origin – outreach to Gen Y, Chazon – Messianic Congregation plant here in SV, Simi Valley Prayer Awakening – building a Prayer Community, Pray Ventura County, The Living Wall, Transform World 2020 and convening a Regional Gathering for John & Julie Dawson 6 times a year.
Our IRC Reconciliation Team will he traveling to Ginosar, Israel in April 2014 for a combined meeting with the ASK Prayer Fellowship International, a Reconciliation Consultation, followed by several days of outreach in Jerusalem. More about that in an upcoming communiqué. We’re both excited and deeply challenged by the implications of Reconciliation Ministry in 2014. There is also another Transform World 2020 gathering in Geneva, Switzerland in June. I haven’t yet heard from heaven whether I’m to go.
I was hoping to write you in October (All Saints), November (Thanksgiving) and December (Christmas) but that didn’t prove possible. You are regularly in my prayers and I’m believing 2014 will be a year of great breakthrough, provision, new opportunities and fruitfulness for us all.
Please continue to keep me and the International Reconciliation Coalition of North America in your prayers.

Dear Praying Family & Friends,
This Thursday, September 5th, I have a red eye flight from LAX to JFK to join other US team members for our Prayer Journey to the Seven Churches in Asia Minor (Turkey), Houses of Prayer and other sites. On September 15th some of us will then fly to Israel where we will also visit and pray with a number of Houses of Prayer, attend the Feast of Tabernacles in Jerusalem, tour and pray at other significant locations throughout Israel, including the Golan Heights overlooking Syria.
We’re a team of 40 people from different nations, with very diverse backgrounds: Pastors, Leaders, Intercessors. As I’ve read through the bios I’ve been deeply impressed with the maturity, experience, education, training, vision and scope of the people God has called together for this time.
I’m amazed and grateful for the way the Lord and His people have contributed and made this epic journey possible. I’ve never been to Turkey but it is referred to as the “Other Holy Land” since so much Church history has taken place there. I was in Israel in 1977 so I know I will encounter much change, mostly in a positive direction.
Obviously we’re going at a time when tensions have escalated significantly in the Middle East, especially the current crisis in Syria. In prayer we feel this is a set time from the Lord and, though somewhat dangerous and challenging, feel privileged to be there at a moment when we see Bible prophecy being fulfilled before our eyes. As I’ve prayed about this I’ve been reminded that the safest place to ever be is in the very “center of God’s will.” God is sovereign and faithful. Of course, I’ve flown into danger before, Vietnam in 1967 and Gulu, Uganda, center of the Lord’s Resistance Army & Joseph Kony, in 2008. I have a deep peace in my heart, faith and confidence that God is with us and has ordained this journey.
Please find attached a Very Informative PDF of our itinerary. I thank you for your support and would value your prayers for me and our team as we endeavor to “shape history” through prayer. I return to Simi Valley on September 26th.
I’m still prayerfully believing to attend YWAM Belgium’s 30th Anniversary Celebration in Brussels on October 12th. As the Founder I feel it’s important to be there to mark this important milestone. I have many friends and colleague I can stay with while there but still need to see provision for airfare.
Again, Thank You SO much for your love, prayers and support. We’re in this together and I will try to update you as time and internet access allow.

Dear Friends & Colleagues,
“Whoever has ears, let them hear what the Spirit says to the churches.” Revelation 2
In the midst of these uncertain, turbulent and changing times, I’m sure we’re all asking “What is the Spirit saying to the Church?” More than ever in my lifetime I’ve been deeply focused on Jesus, the Word, Prayer and the Holy Spirit in order to truly hear His voice and be used of Him like never before!
In 1999, while Pastor of Church of the Living Christ in Simi Valley, I gave a series of messages from Revelation 1-3 on the Seven Churches of Asia Minor—Ephesus, Smyrna, Pergamum, Thyatira, Sardis, Philadelphia & Laodicea—entitled, “Churches from the Edge!” Because of persecution in Jerusalem, Christians were scattered to surrounding cities and nations sharing the gospel giving rise to new “gentile” congregations. Then there was Saul’s (the Apostle Paul) dramatic encounter with Jesus on the road to Damascus where he was given a special revelation and specific call to the “Goyim,” the Gentiles. Many churches are referred to in more or less detail in the book of Acts and Paul writes letters to the Romans, Corinthians, Galatians, Ephesians, , Philippians, Thessalonians. All of this was very new for the “Apostolic” Jewish Leadership in Jerusalem as well as for Paul. There were a number of “councils” in the New Testament addressing the conflicts and challenges facing the “fledgling” church—both Jew and Gentile, the most notable in Acts 15. Both the “Post Pentecost Church” in Jerusalem and the “Gentile Churches” in Asia Minor and around the Mediterranean were at the forefront, on the cutting edge, of the advancement of the Gospel in their world and generation.
The Revelation begins with the Apostle John receiving a clear revelation of Jesus Christ who holds in his right hand the Seven Stars and the Seven Golden Lampstands. He then reveals that the Seven Stars are the Angels of the Seven Churches and the Lampstands are the Seven Churches. The fact that Jesus, through the Apostle John, focuses directly on these seven churches has intrigued theologians and Christians throughout modern history. Some have seen these seven churches in a dispensational context: Ephesus the “loveless” church being the New Testament First Century Church ending up with Laodicea, the “lukewarm” church of our generation. However, these churches existed contemporaneously with each other and, to me, have always represented the “archetypical” or “prototypical” church living in and confronting the social, cultural, economic and spiritual milieu in their geographical location in their day. I have read and reread these chapters for years and back in ‘99 I saw a pattern that was not only important to each of the Seven Churches but also can help focus, inform, direct and encourage us, the Church of today.
¨ Revelation of Jesus: Each letter begins with a Revelation of Jesus that is specific to that church—an excerpt of the Revelation John saw in Revelation 1.
¨ Recommendation: Jesus then Recommends and encourages the good things He sees in each Church.
¨ Rebuke: Jesus goes to reveal and Rebuke the things where they have drifted from true faith or are lacking in righteous behavior and influence. For two Churches, Smyrna (the Faultless Church) and Philadelphia (the Faithful Church) there is NO rebuke!
¨ Remedy-Repentance: Jesus goes on to give Remedial Steps they can take to correct their doctrine and behavior to once again enter into the favor and blessing He intends for them. The key is Repentance!
¨ Reward: There’s a specific Reward for each Church as they Repent and take Remedial Action. “To him who overcomes……..I will GIVE!”
In my last Update a few weeks ago I shared that I had been invited / strongly encouraged to travel to Turkey & Israel as part of a Strategic Prayer Initiative of the Transform World 2020 Celebration Challenge—Praying, Encouraging and Raising Up Houses of Prayer throughout the world and networking prayer ministries for greater Informed Intercession and effectiveness. I shared that that I needed over $6000 for this journey. Today I want to give testimony to the Faithfulness of our Father and the Generosity of His People. Yesterday I was able to pay the final $1400 for this Outreach. I give God the Glory and am so Grateful for so many who have contributed to make this possible. To date I’ve received $5780 with a couple of pledges still to be received! Thank You Jesus & His people!!
From September 5-26 I’ll join an International Group of Pastors, Leaders and Intercessors for a very strategic Prayer Journey to Turkey (Asia Minor) and Israel. We will visit each of the Seven Churches in the order listed in Revelation to build altars of Praise, Confession, Repentance & Worship in the model of the Tabernacle of David in Amos 9:11. We will used the Words of Jesus to each of these Churches to humble ourselves as representatives of His Church on earth and “do business” with Father God, through the Blood of Jesus Christ and by the Power of His Holy Spirit believing he might use us to stand in the gap for the Church and for the Nations. In Turkey we will also be visiting and networking with existing Churches the Izmir House of Prayer and other Houses of Prayer and praying at strategic sites in Istanbul. Note: the First Church Council, 325 CE in Nicea began the process of Replacement Theology which Jews, especially Messianic Jews, have been battling against for Centuries. Jesus died to destroy the wall of partition!
In Israel we will attend the Feast of Tabernacles September 19-25 in Jerusalem. We will visit and pray with/for a number of Houses of Prayer throughout Israel and well as praying at Sacred Sites we will be visiting. I will send you an updated copy of our itinerary in both Turkey and Israel before we leave so that, should you desire, you can track with us and pray for and with us. We’re praying for a Great Spiritual Awakening throughout the Earth. Isaiah 60! Also, as time and internet access allow, I hope to send photos and updates as we go along to help you participate with us.
In my former Update I also shared that YWAM Belgium, which we founded in Brussels in 1983, is Celebrating 30 years of ministry on October 12th. I’m so grateful for those who have continued and advanced this ministry since our family left in 1990. I’m hoping to spend 10 days to two weeks there to allow time to network with old friends and colleagues, speak in churches and be a blessing to Belgium. It’s been over 5 years since my last visit.
I’m still in need of about $2000 for airfare, ground transport, food and lodging in Belgium. To date I haven’t asked for money but for Prayer knowing that Father knows my needs, even before I ask, and will provide “according to His riches in Glory by Christ Jesus.” Thank you for your prayers for this ministry!
Many of us, and perhaps you as well, are feeling stretched and challenged like never before. The warfare around this team and Prayer Journey has been extremely intense—often all we can do is be quiet, rest and call out to Jesus for Grace & Endurance. He has proven to be totally faithful and able beyond what we can even believe or hope.
“Now to him who is able to do far more abundantly than all that we ask or think, according to the power at work within us, to him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, forever and ever. Amen.“ Ephesians 3:20-21

“Lift up your heads, you gates; be lifted up, you ancient doors,
that the King of glory may come in.” Psalms 24:7
We’re witnessing the most significant acceleration of world events that I can remember in my 70 years. Things that have long been forecast or prophesied are taking place with amazing speed and accuracy right before our eyes. At the same time we’re seeing the Church, the Body of Christ, come together for worship, prayer and witness to a degree we haven’t seen in decades and the Kingdom of God is advancing in wonderfully tangible ways. Though there is much that could make us fearful, I am very happy to be alive and working in God’s Vineyard at this moment in history.
With that said, I find I’m running to keep up with the Lord and playing catch-up with communication. It is such a privilege to be part of some of the wonderful works God is doing in Simi Valley, Ventura County, California, the USA and around the world. Here’s a brief update on recent ministry.
Simi Valley: We continue to pray from 7-10 AM each Wednesday at Church of the Living Christ and are seeing incremental answers from the Lord. Origin (@CLC) is continuing to reach and disciple the next generation and COMPEL is an initiative to mobilize worship, prayer and evangelism between and through other Youth Ministries in our community. Chazon, our Messianic Congregation church plant, continues to grow and advance. Rabbi Shawn will defend his Doctoral thesis this Saturday at King’s Seminary and graduate on Sunday. He’s also just completed translating the Book of Ezekiel for an English Messianic Bible, a very daunting task. The “Deep End” bible study continues to grow bigger and deeper as we study through books of the bible—currently Genesis. People from several other churches attend, contributing to unity in The Church of Simi Valley.
There is growing unity, intimacy & vision in the Simi Valley Praying Pastors. We continue to support and encourage each pastor & church as well as pray for revival & awakening. New opportunities to collaborate with the Mayor, City Council & Police Department to deal particularly with an epidemic of drug addiction and kids OD’ing on prescription & illegal drugs are an answer to prayer. Simi Valley Community Church will be launching “The Landing,” a support and recovery group for young people battling drugs & alcohol addiction, later this month. PTL! We just began our second year of the monthly SV Prayer AWAKENING which I’ve been spearheading on behalf of the Pastors, Churches & Ministries in Simi Valley. We’ve been hosted by 8 different churches/ministries to date. We still have a ways to go but are encouraged by what God doing.
Ventura County: Just before heading to Kansas City in late March we had a gathering of a growing Prayer Coalition with quite a few young leaders from across the county who have a vision for Worship, Intercession and to see a 24-7 House of Prayer raised up in Ventura County. In April we met with 11 young people from Ojai at the Eagle’s Nest HOP. We listened to their hearts as they shared their desire to see Nights of Worship & Prayer raised up in each of our 10 cities and see their generation reached with the gospel. Since the beginning of the year there have been several expressions of these nights of Worship & Prayer in Ventura, Ojai, Simi Valley and Camarillo with many more to come. We’re believing for a “Prayed for County” where God is welcome, there’s an Open Heaven and where it’s difficult for people to go to hell!!
California: In late April we traveled to Oakland where we met with several Houses of Prayer from the Bay Area, Beulah HOP in Alamo, IHOP in Pleasanton, and the NAOS House of Prayer on the UC Berkeley Campus, one of the most liberal universities in America. (Coincidentally, one of the presenters at the TW 2020/IHOP KC Prayer Summit was the head of the underground church in China. He came to the Lord while a student at UC Berkeley several years ago. Isn’t God amazing!) On Friday night we celebrated the Passover of the Second Month from the time of Hezekiah. On Saturday I had the privilege of praying for the Students from UC Berkeley, really radical young followers of Jesus who are having an incredible impact on their campus and region.
North America: The Transform World 2020 / IHOP KC 70 Hour Prayer Summit was beyond great. People, Churches, Movements and Missions coming together in Common Cause is to be celebrated. My takeaways: Unity, Emphasis on Prayer & Evangelism; Empowering the Next Generation; Raising up Houses of Prayer throughout our world. Scores of International Church & Mission Leaders came to KC on their own dime to promote prayer, unity and Transform World’s focus on the 7 Global Challenges, 7 Speres of Influence, 3 Generations of Participation and 10 Regions of the Word. God is breaking down historical, denominational and traditional barriers to Usher in His Kingdom!
Global: I’ve once again been asked to be part of a major Prayer Outreach to the Seven Churches in Asia Minor (Turkey-Revelation 2-3) & then to the 2013 Feast of Tabernacles in Israel, September 6-26th ($5,225). Our friend Rania Sayegh, whom I met in Kansas City, is an Arab Palestinian Christian from Nazareth on the West Bank. She is working with both Jews and Palestinian Arabs and will be doing a Reconciliation Gathering on The Brow where the leaders of the Synagogue in Nazareth attempted to throw Jesus to his death. She’s an amazing woman and I’m hoping to be able to join her and the others for these events. I’m in hopes of flying from Israel to Belgium for the 30th Anniversary of YWAM Belgium ($1500). I would be there for approximately 3 weeks renewing bonds with YWAM Belgium and Pastors, Churches and Ministries we worked with for many years. I need God to provide +/- $10,000 in the next few weeks to make this all possible. Please pray God makes this possible. God is more than ABLE!
- June 22, 23—One in Messiah @ Church of the Living Christ, Simi Valley
- July 19th—Ron celebrates 44 years in ministry. God is SO Faithful!!
- September 6-15—Prayer Journey to the Seven Churches of Revelation in Turkey
- September 16-28—Prayer Journey to Feast of Tabernacles in Israel / Day of Prayer & Reconciliation between Jews & Arab Palestinians in Nazareth
- October 12—YWAM Belgium Celebrating 30 years in October. We moved to Brussels on July 1, 1983 to found YWAM Belgium. Time flies! This is an IMPORTANT priority. More about this in my next letter!
I’m so deeply grateful for your continued partnership, prayer and financial support. I couldn’t do what I do without you. In the natural, the upcoming events, especially the travel and ministry to Turkey, Israel and Belgium are absolutely impossible. BUT, we know that, with God, nothing is impossible and, with God, ALL things are possible. I would so value your prayers as I seek to follow God and in some small way impact Simi Valley, Ventura County, California and the World with the Gospel of Jesus. I can’t tell you how appreciative I am for your friendship, prayers and support!

Dear Family & Friends,
Early Sunday morning, March 24-27, I fly to Kansas City to participate in the Transform World 2020—IHOP KC (International House of Prayer) 70 hour Prayer Summit. This is a follow-on to the Global Challenges Summit I attended in Bali, Indonesia in November. There is a growing convergence of leaders, denominations, churches, organizations and ministries refining our focus, giving us new lenses to see the lost and needy in our world through the eyes of Jesus and working together to address these needs through the atoning work of Christ.
Between Bali and Kansas city there has been and ongoing exchange of prayer, emails, sharing documents, numerous conference calls—for Transform Los Angeles, Transform California, Transform USA, and the Global Celebration Challenge. Today’s technology is helping us connect, communicate and pray together in real time. What a privilege to meet so many of God’s precious saints around the world. We are living in a “set time” of God’s Purposes being accomplished on planet earth.
The 7 year Transform World initiative is focused on the Seven Spheres of Society: Family, Arts, Media, Church, Government, Business and Education. Then the additional lens of the Seven Global Challenges: Celebration Challenge—houses of worship and prayer being established in every nation, state/province and city to have a “prayed for” world; Ideological Challenge—focused primarily on Islam, the religion of the majority of “unreached peoples” remaining to receive the Gospel of Jesus; Missional Challenge—completing the Great Commission; Orphan Challenge—hundreds of thousands of children who have no parents or no place to call “home”; Justice Challenge; Poverty Challenge and Family Challenge. additional we’ll be praying through the 10 Regions of the World and conclude by praying for Israel, the Middle East and the Back to Jerusalem Movement. It’s 70 hours of non-stop worship, various speakers and presenters, prophetic intercession and listening to Jesus’ voice.
We’ll also be praying for the 4-14 Generation—children between these ages are most open and receptive to the Gospel, Gen Y—those between 15-35 who feel alienated from God and the Church, yet whom is God is raising up for a new wave of revival and awakening. I met a young Egyptian leader in Indonesia who has been leading Concerts of Worship & Intercession in Egypt with as many as 10,000 in attendance. There is a major move of Worship, Prayer & Evangelism taking place on an increasing numbers of University, College and School campuses throughout the US as well. Hundreds are coming and many young people are turning away for the empty philosophy of Secular Progressive Ideologies and Political Correctness to the Ancient Truths of the Gospel in Jesus Christ. PTL!
This event is being live-streamed so you too can host a prayer gathering at your home, church, business, school, etc for at least 2 hours of live connection with those gathered at IHOP KC? On a Personal Note: On January 9th I turned 70, officially becoming and “elderly person.” LOL I drove to San Diego on my B’day, then the next morning day Rachelle and I drove to Las Cruses, NM to pick up Kai who had spent Christmas and New Year with his dad. It was special to spend extended time with my beautiful daughter and then with Kai on our way back. Aaron moved from SD to Las Cruses last July which has been pretty difficult for Kai and has added extra responsibility to Rachelle. I love being with them and helping any way I can.
In a recent newsletter I share some of the financial and vehicle obstacles that were challenging my faith. God has been so faithful and his people so generous. A brother called to ask if I’d been able to get tires for my car, which I hadn’t. He asked me to meet him at a local tire shop and bought a new set for me—almost $500. There were other generous—and some unexpected contributions—which helped pay the rent, stock the cupboards and have some extra for Christmas gifts ministry needs. I am SO grateful, Thank You!
One challenge remains: late last year my car overheated several times. We replaced the water pump, fan relays, thermostat, a bypass hose and it seemed all was OK. I drove to Fresno, then later to Maricopa, then to SD & back on my B’day. In late January it overheated again and has continued to get worse. It seems I have a leaky or blown head gasket, serious repairs. I’ve received a couple of “very substantial” gifts to help cover this, depending on what they discover when they do surgery on the engine. It has been running well so hoping it’s nothing more serious. Repairs begin this Thursday and hopefully it will be all better when I return from KC. Again, I’m so thankful for the Generosity of God’s people!
The last 2-3 months have been a time of deep reflection, spending extended times in pray and the Word as God increases my faith and prepares me for future ministry. Thank you so much for your part in that—for your prayers, partnership and encouragement.

“For to us a child is born, to us a son is given, and the government will be on his shoulders. And he will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.” Isaiah 9:6
“A voice is heard in Ramah, weeping and great mourning, Rachel weeping for her children and refusing to be comforted, because they are no more.” Matthew 2:18
I’m sure you, like me, were shocked and saddened by the unspeakable evil, violence, pain & death perpetrated, primarily, against children at the Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown CT last Friday. What an horrific tragedy! As “Opa” to 4.5 year old pre-kindergarten Kai, I was poignantly aware how I would feel had he been in that school. These kinds of incidences are becoming far to frequent. Our hearts & prayers go out to the families who suffered such enormous loss and to the community who must find a way to grieve, find comfort, process, heal and continue their lives.
Two of the Global Challenges we dealt with at the Transform World Summit in Bali, Indonesia last month related to the “4-14 Challenge” – children between those ages who are most receptive to the gospel and moral truth. The second is the “Orphan Challenge!” There are approximately 150 million orphans in the world, most without any kind of family, safety net or support. They often end up in gangs stealing, prostitution, petty and not-so petty crime and other forms of anti-social behavior in order to survive.
Just three days after returning I convened a meeting of godly leaders in Ventura County who surround and support John & Julie Dawson in their ministry to YWAM and the IRC. One of our members, Phil Graf, had just returned from Uganda where they are working with pastors, churches and community leaders. At the end of their journey they spent time in Kampala where there are thousands of orphans—street kids. He was able to meet some of them, see where they live and learn how they band together to survive. There is still considerable polygamy in Uganda and when a husband divorces a wife, he keeps daughters who become virtual slaves to the rest of the family. The boys are then kicked out of the house/family and end up on the streets. He found that these, mostly boys, are deeply hungry for love, acceptance, a family and home. He was then able to connect the church there to these kids in hope that faith and grace-filled solutions might be found.
In Romans 8 Paul writes: “We know that the whole creation has been groaning as in the pains of childbirth right up to the present time. Not only so, but we ourselves, who have the firstfruits of the Spirit, groan inwardly as we wait eagerly for our adoption to sonship, the redemption of our bodies.”
When God chose to reveal himself in human form he came as a baby, a child, a son. Jesus, which means, “He will SAVE!” I NEED a Savior! Simi Valley NEEDS a Savior! Ventura County NEEDS a Savior! California NEEDS a Savior! The United States NEEDS a Savior! The Nations and Peoples of the World NEED a Savior.
Since the Transform World Global Challenges Summit I’ve been part of several conference calls: TW International “Celebration Challenge” at 4 AM (Ugh); for TW USA; TW California; Prayer for Native Americans and another for the reconciliation of Jews & Gentiles. The TWGCS was the most mind/heart stretching and challenging event I’ve every participated it. The vision tastes sweet to the mouth but bitter to the stomach. One is immediately aware of his own mortality and smallness while at the same time aware of the Great Commandment and Great Commission and the GREAT and AWESOME GOD we serve. If I look at myself, my circumstances, my gifting and abilities, my finances I want to shrink back. If I look to GOD with whom “All things are Possible” and “Nothing is Impossible,” then faith begins to arise in my heart and I think, “can it be possible?” Can God really use me (and you) to Transform our World?
CREATION IS GROANING AND WAITING!
I could not and can not do what I’m doing without your love, encouragement, prayers and financial support! I’ve been to Indonesia – due to your generosity and prayers. Thank you SO much. However, I’m not sure I’ll be able to pay the rent this month. The fridge is almost empty and the cupboards are pretty bare. My car is aging and needing repairs. I need new tires among so many other “necessities.” All this is challenging me and my faith to the core of my being and I’m much better at being a “worrier” that a “warrior.” I have no idea how God will provide but I BELIEVE He will provide! What’s important is that I WANT to be part, even a small part, of this end time Awakening and am leaning heavily into Jesus. In Psalm 37 David wrote, “I was young and now I am old, yet I have never seen the righteous forsaken or their children begging bread.” God says, “I will never leave you or forsake you!” Many others are facing similar challenges due to unemployment, ill health or ministry challenges. I am standing with all you in prayer also, not only for provision but expanded faith and vision in the face of adversity.
Tonight “Rachel” is weeping for her children—in Newtown, Portland, Aurora, Native American Reservations, China (22 children attacked by crazed, knife-wielding person) and so many other places. Together we can pray, unite our hearts, minds, gifts and resources for this final push and make a huge difference – all to the Glory of Jesus, the Lamb who became the Lion of Judah, our Savior, King of kings and Lord of lords.
Peace on Earth—This is the meaning of Christmas!

Greetings from Simi Valley,
I returned from Bali, Indonesia late Saturday night, November 10th, after a very intense travel and conference schedule. I departed from LAX at 11:30 PM Sunday night, November 4th, arriving in Bali at 2:30 Tuesday afternoon. Monday got lost somewhere over the Pacific Ocean. The summit began with dinner and a special opening ceremony at the R.O.C.K. Church Tuesday evening – just enough time after arriving to take a quick shower, change clothes and jump on the bus. The summit officially got under way on Wednesday morning. We met from 8 AM until 9:30 PM each day – Wednesday–Friday – at the Aston Denpasar Hotel and Convention Center with breaks for coffee, lunch and dinner – so it was very much a working event, no time to get out into the city/country for sightseeing.
The summit was attended by 431 participants from 48 different countries working in broad categories of ministry – everything from church planting, working with orphans or human trafficking to relief and development work in two thirds world countries in Africa and Asia. I met & strategized with people from Myanmar, India, Hong Kong, Macau, Ethiopia, Malawi, South Africa, Italy, France, Holland, Israel, Egypt, Brazil, Nepal, Australia, New Zealand, Canada, and the USA to mention just a few. Needless to say, it was a very inspiring and humbling to meet and share time with these very dedicated Servants of Jesus, many of whom live and work in the most challenging and difficult circumstances imaginable.
We had a number of plenary sessions sharing the vision, values and strategies of the Transform World Global Challenges Summit followed by smaller group gatherings in a number of different configurations: The Seven Spheres; The Seven Challenges; the Three Generations being mobilized and the 10 Regions of the World we work in. I’ll share more details about this in a future email.
I’ll be heading to San Diego tomorrow to spend an early Thanksgiving with Rachelle & Kai but wanted to take a moment to Thank You for your prayer and support for this latest ministry trip. I think I picked up a bit of a bug so, in addition to serious jet lag, haven’t felt too good the past couple of days. I’ll return to Simi Valley on Sunday afternoon. I’m deeply grateful for your love and encouragement.
Wishing you a Blessed and Refreshing weekend!

In my last Update I mentioned several upcoming events and asked for your prayer. I’ll begin with two that still loom on the horizon, starting next week, then finish with a report on those now completed. Your prayers have been answered in a BIG way!
International School of Reconciliation Studies Residency – October 31-November 3 : Our Reconciliation team will be hosting a group of National & International Participants (Ireland, Switzerland, Canada, Massachusetts, Minnesota, New Mexico, Arizona & California) on the Torres Martinez Reservation near Indio CA. This is our 9th Residency and the FIRST time hosting one of these events on a Native American Reservation. We’re partnering with a number of outstanding NA Leaders and are praying for a major breakthrough and release for the First Nations Peoples. Reconciliation with the Indigenous Peoples of North America remains the most critical Reconciliation Issue we face. We would really appreciate your prayer!
Transform World Global Challenges Summit – November 6-10 Bali, Indonesia : I first became aware of this “Invitation Only” Global Initiative back in May and began to assist Fred & Susan Rowe, Facilitators of the Celebration Challenge, connect with other prayer & reconciliation leaders around the world! As we talked and prayed together they had an increasing sense that I needed to go—to represent the Reconciliation DNA & Message into this process. I felt I was to go from the start but didn’t know how God would make that happen. At our recent Feast of Tabernacles Gathering in Mariposa CA they presented this to those gathered and asked them to give. This was a total surprise and I’ve been overwhelmed by God’s affirmation and the generosity of this relatively small group. The offering was sufficient to cover my registration, air fare, hotel & meals. God is SO Good. I’ll be flying out on November 4th and returning on the 10th.
Here’s a brief description from their website: We have identified seven challenges that we will respond to in the grace and wisdom of God in seven spheres or domains of cultural influence in ten geographic regions of the world through three generations, including the 4/14 Window, Gen Y/Millennials. We are looking through four lenses as though looking at Transform World Vision 2020 through Quadrifocal glasses. The Seven Challenges Ideological Challenge: Issues surrounding Islamic fundamentalism. Family Challenge: Focus on Christian Marriage and family. Orphan Challenge: Focus on the care of orphans. Poverty Challenge: Reviewing poverty lines globally and availability of reaching needs among the poorest communities in our world. Human Rights Challenge: Restoring and promoting human rights against governmental and non-governmental actors that violate and are contrary to human dignity. Christ’s Mission Challenge: Reaching un-reached people groups. Celebration Challenge: Identifying, connecting, and encouraging 24/7 houses of prayer and praise in every nation.
ONCE AGAIN I/We really covet your prayer covering!!
Somehow God has graced me with the ability to walk with and among very diverse groups of people over the years. My life and ministry have been incredibly enriched by all the different people, groups, ministries and movements and I feel privileged to be used by the Holy Spirit to network people, help “tie knots” in this great Last Days Harvest NET that will catch and disciple thousands of people that will turn to Jesus in these increasingly difficult and challenging times. Your prayers and partnership are so important in making this possible. Here’s what’s been going on the past 5 weeks.
Simi Valley City Church Prayer Awakening—First Sunday of Each Month continues to grow and spread throughout our community. We’re getting to know each other better, friendships and trust are growing as are intimacy and power in prayer. We’ve now met in four different churches/ministries in 6 months and the feedback we’re getting is very positive and encouraging. Our next, 7th month, gathering will be at Victory Outreach SV on November 4th @ 6:30 PM. Join us if you’re in the area. From there I head to LAX to fly to Bali, Indonesia—that’s a pretty good sendoff!
Santa Paula Prayer Walk: Last Tuesday, October 16th, we completed our 9 months Prayer Walking every street, home, school, church, business, government institution in Santa Paula. I have personally been so blessed each month as we have met for worship & prayer before heading out to the streets. Getting to know the Pastors, Leaders and many people as well as walking their community with them has endeared our hearts to each other and increased our Vision & Passion for our Cities and County. Now the SP Churches are asking: What’s next Lord?
Pray California – September 21-22 in Fresno: This is an “Umbrella” networking organization in CA that gathers Pastors, Churches, Leaders, Educators/Home School Movement, Media people, Marketplace people, Prayer Groups, Houses of Prayer, City Reaching Efforts—people of all stripes and colors. It was great to see many old colleagues as well as meet many for the first time. Our PASSION is to see California, one of the most influential States in the Union, turn to Jesus and reclaim our place as one of the greatest “World Impacting” States. The central valley of CA is said to be the most fertile soil in the world and we’ve exported more of just about everything all over the world. Hollywood and the Movie Industry has had an enormous impact on the world and many were there that have vision, plans and strategies to see that turned to the Glory of God. More global-impacting ministries have begun in CA than just about any other place on the planet—The Azusa Street Revival, Aimee Simple McPherson/The Foursquare Church, Full Gospel Business Men’s Fellowship, Campus Crusade for Christ, Youth With A Mission, Billy Graham Crusades, Focus on the Family, Calvary Chapel/Chuck Smith, the Jesus Movement, The Vineyard Church/John Wimber, Trinity Broadcasting, U.S. Center for World Missions, Saddleback Church/Rick Warren, and there are many more.
Fall Feast of Tabernacles – October 4-6 in Mariposa: In some ways this was a continuation of Pray California—just a slight difference in focus, people and application. The fellowship was rich; the presence of the Lord was palpable; the Word of the Lord was Powerful. The Vision is to see Altars of Praise, Worship & Prayer established throughout the State; to see Houses of Prayer raised up in every County & City; and to see these networked for greater communication and collaboration and to see Revival & Awakening come to our State. I believe we took significant steps toward those goals.
Once again I want to thank you for your partnership, prayer and support! My plate is pretty full but the Lord is faithful and totally adequate to walk with us and meet all our needs. Can I ask you to continue to pray for Financial Support for this ministry? Your prayers DO make a big difference!

“David was afraid of God that day and asked, “How can I ever bring the ark of God to me?” He did not take the ark to be with him in the City of David. Instead, he took it aside to the house of Obed-Edom the Gittite. The ark of God remained with the family of Obed-Edom in his house for three months, and the Lord blessed his household and everything he had.” 1 Chronicles 13:12-14
Recently, as I was reading about King David’s desire to bring the Ark of The Covenant to Jerusalem, a number of thoughts grabbed my attention which are both challenging and informing me in my walk with Jesus and the ministry He’s called me to.
First, David recognized his need for the presence and blessing of God as the newly anointed King of all Israel. Amen, me too!
Second, he said, “For we did not inquire of it during the reign of Saul.” Saul had been called and anointed to be King by the Prophet Samuel but, because he did not “inquire of the Ark” – did not seek the presence and guidance of God—he repeatedly acted in a carnal, fleshly way invoking the anger of God and Samuel. He lost his anointing, his Kingdom, was eventually tormented by an evil spirit “from the Lord.” Ultimately he pursued and tried to murder David without cause. Finally he lost his life along with three of his sons. David had personally witnessed and experienced what happens when someone rules without the Presence and Blessing of God. Could this be the condition of much of the Church today? I believe that’s changing. PTL!
Yet, even David didn’t get it right the first time. He didn’t consult the Torah and Priests as to how the Ark was to be transported to it’s new location. The Philistines had sent it back to Israel on a new cart after they had experienced severe plagues in their cities and the humiliation of their god Dagon. The Philistines didn’t know how to transport the Ark, but David certainly should have. When the oxen stumbled and the Ark was in danger of being wrecked, David’s friend Uzza reached out and grabbed the ark to steady it. He was killed instantly. This both angered and frightened David and he had second thoughts about bringing the Ark to Jerusalem. “It is a dreadful thing to fall into the hands of the living God.” Hebrews 10:1 Thankful for mercy & grace!!
The Ark was taken to the house of Obed-Edom, where it remained for three months and as our text at the beginning states, “The Lord blessed his household and everything he had.” This news must have reached David so we see him a couple chapters later again attempting to bring the Ark of the Covenant to Jerusalem. This time he had done his homework—the Priests carried the Ark on their shoulders resulting in great success, blessing and celebration in Israel. Moses’ Tabernacle was in Gibeon so David set up a tent in Jerusalem where the Ark was placed. David designed musical instruments, established the Sons of Asaph to worship before the Ark & the Lord 24/7/365. David also wrote Songs of Worship, Praise and Adoration to assist his people in encountering and experiencing, not just the physical presence of the Ark, but the Living Presence of God who dwells between the Cherubim. It came to be known as the “Tabernacle of David.” This is also referenced in the Prophets & New Testament.
When the Jerusalem Council was debating whether to allow all the new Gentile converts into their fellowship, James relates the following: “After this I will return and rebuild David’s fallen tent (Tabernacle of David). Its ruins I will rebuild, and I will restore it, that the remnant of men may seek the Lord, and all the Gentiles who bear my name, says the Lord, who does these things’ that have been known for ages.” Acts 15:16-18 Nothing pleases the heart of God like united, unadulterated Praise & Worship!
This, in essence is what we are endeavoring to do—in Simi Valley, Ventura County, California, the United States & Globally!
The past few weeks have been wonderfully busy as God continues to orchestrate, unify and mobilize His people in these last days. I’m running to keep up with him and am WAY LATE in getting this written. I appreciate you bearing with me. More people, churches, city & regional groups are responding to the Call to Prayer; there is increasing unity, collaboration, vision and passion arising in Jesus’ Church and it’s very exciting to be part of this work.
Simi Valley City Church Prayer Awakening has been gathering for 5 months—the First Sunday of each month; the numbers continue to grow and we’re meeting in as many different churches/ministries possible. Our prayer focus has changed each month to reflect the challenges and opportunities were facing. Faith and enthusiasm are growing in the Body of Christ in Simi Valley. PTL!
Life Impact—Impacto de Vida: We had around 4,000 attend this event at Royal High School last month to worship & pray together and hear Nick Vujicic. Over 300 responded to the invitation with close to 200 making commitments to Christ. This is a FIRST for Simi Valley! More Lord….
Love Israel: In March we assisted Liliana McDermott, Jacob’s Ladder in Ventura, establish Love Israel: Prayer for Israel & the Diaspora. Lilly sent me a text last week saying that “suddenly” Jews are more open to the Gospel and many have received Yeshua as Messiah! Love Israel meets the First Monday of each month @ Jacob’s Ladder on Thompson Blvd, Ventura.
Eagle’s Nest Ojai: This group, led by Paul & Angie Royle, continues to grow, more people & groups are praying in their Cities – for Gov’t centers, schools, businesses and homes – blessing their communities with the Love, Mercy & Grace of Jesus. Michael Dalton ministered to us very powerfully this past weekend. We also had anointed times of prayer for Eleanor (Chumash) and Rochelle (Chemehuevi from near Lake Havasu). God is healing, anointing and realigning His Body for maximum effectiveness.
Santa Paula: We’ve now completed 7 of 9 months of prayer walking SP and will have prayed for every church, business, school, Gov’t center and home in just 2 more months. We often meet people that we are able to share Jesus or pray with. Our next gathering is this coming Tuesday, September 18 @ 6:30 PM (month 8). Many leaders and intercessors from around the county have joined in supporting these walks. Now the SP Churches are beginning to ask: What’s next Lord?
LA Harvest with Greg Laurie: Several VC Churches participated with this event at Dodger Stadium last week—inviting friends, serving as ushers/counselors and now doing follow-up. Over 60,000 attended the 2 nights and approximately 7,000 made commitments to Jesus! I wasn’t able to attend but did live stream it and was totally inspired and blessed by the music, messages and watching people respond to Jesus’ invitation. Can we believe for REVIVAL in California? I AM!
I want to close this by sharing several important upcoming events I’ve been invited to be part of and ask for your prayer and support:
Pray California – September 21-22 in Fresno: This is a gathering of Pastors, Prayer Leaders and Intercessors from all over CA for worship, prayer and to seek God’s heart & strategy for our State. Cost for travel, lodging & food—app. $150.00
Fall Feast of Tabernacles – October 4-6 in Mariposa: Sponsored by Fred & Sue Rowe, The Living Wall, the Amos 9:11 Call & Restoring the Tabernacle of David and Henry & Grace Felany, Mariposa Revival Center & author of “God, Gold & Glory.” This is the same group I met with at Sutter’s Mill in March. The focus again is mobilizing & networking prayer and building ALTARS to the Lord throughout the State. Cost for travel, lodging & food—app. $200.00
International School of Reconciliation Studies Residency – October 31-November 3: Our Reconciliation team will be hosting a group of International Participants on the Torres Martinez Reservation near Indio CA. This is our 9th Residency and the FIRST time hosting one of these events on a Native American Reservation. We’re partnering with a number of outstanding NA Leaders and are praying for a major breakthrough and release for the First Nations Peoples. We would really appreciate your prayer! Cost for travel, lodging & food—app. $300.00
Transform World Global Challenges Summit – November 6-10 Bali, Indonesia : A mobilization effort that emanated out of the AD 2000 prayer movement of the 90’s has identified 7 key challenges now facing the church. The summit in Bali will catalyze a seven year effort on meeting the challenges. One is the “Celebration” challenge for building and connecting houses of prayer in every nation—RECONCILIATION is a key component. Cost for travel, lodging & food—app. $3000.00
